We all want our primary schools to be places of belonging – where each child feels seen, heard, and valued exactly as they are. Difference for Primary Schools is designed to help schools navigate the complexities in our society and build a culture of courage, hope, and empathy.

Rooted in Christian values, Difference supports real change by embedding three peacemaking habits: Be Curious, Be Present, and Reimagine. These habits give children skills to engage constructively and respectfully to build a flourishing school community.

This host guide equips teachers and educators with the knowledge and tools needed to lead sessions effectively. Each session includes an overview, a detailed breakdown of activities, discussion prompts and guidance on using multi-media resources (available from the Difference website after training).

The guide emphasises creating a welcoming and inclusive environment, encouraging pupils to engage in open and respectful dialogue. Additionally, it offers practical tips for hosts on managing group dynamics, handling sensitive topics and integrating faith perspectives into discussions.

Please note that there are two sets of session plans shared within this guide – one set for Nursery (3-4 years old) and the other for Reception (4-5 years old).
