This report explores the role of a much underestimated area of ministry in the Church of England - the Local Non-Stipendiary Minister (LNSM). Opinions on the function and merits of the LNSMs have differed among senior figures in the Church. This report aims to help move the debate forward as the Church discusses the future of this aspect of its ministry. It includes sections on: the importance and changing responsibilities of the LNSM the unique role of the LNSM the arguments for a change of title to 'Ordained Local Minister' the collaborative work with incumbents and other stipendiary clergy the vocation and selection of LNSMs three emerging models of training LNSMs This report will be of interest not only to the clergy, but also to all those involved in the administration and mission of the Church.
