These national guidelines from the Church of England are designed to inform, direct and equip those working in local churches about domestic abuse. This includes those in authorised ministries, such as clergy, readers or pastoral assistants, and also those entrusted by victims, survivors or perpetrators to hear their stories. The guidelines contain: - An overview of the issue of domestic abuse - Recognising its various manifestations - The latest guidelines for appropriate pastoral intervention and response - Working with other agencies - Recommended policies for action at both parish and diocesan level - Appendices containing updated legal information and further resources This document is commended by the House of Bishops as part of the Church's commitment to victims of domestic abuse and to address the circumstances that lead to domestic abuse.
