The Church of England's Daily Prayer audio service has comforted and inspired millions worldwide since its launch in 2021. Featuring choral music performed by St Martin's Voices, it has included everything from traditional chant to contemporary styles inspired by Taizé and Iona.

The Gift of This New Day CD features all-new recordings of the most-requested pieces featured at Morning Prayer across the different seasons of the church year. These include pieces based on well-known sacred music in the public domain – from Hildegard of Bingen to Rachmaninoff – alongside original compositions.

There are also five new works commissioned for this album, composed by Cecilia McDowall, Nils Greenhow, Sarah MacDonald, Owain Park, and Lucy Walker. Each aims to create a space for spiritual reflection, inviting listeners to encounter God beyond words.

The Gift of This New Day will continue and extend the ‘breath-taking and healing work’ of the Daily Prayer app and podcast, enabling individuals and congregations to incorporate more simple, beautiful music into their own rhythms of daily prayer.

A book to accompany the CD is also available.
