Church House Publishing is the official publisher to the Archbishops' Council and the Church of England. In addition to publishing Common Worship and reference publications like Crockford's Clerical Directory and The Church of England Year Book, we also publish resources for worship, ministry and mission, including a wide range of publications for children's and youth work in parishes and schools.
As official publisher to the Church of England and the Archbishops' Council, CHP's publishing strategy seeks to reflect the fundamentals and themes of the Council.
The two fundamentals of the Archbishops' Council are:

- Seeking full visible unity
The Council’s four themes are
- Engaging with social issues
- Equipping for evangelism
- Welcoming and encouraging children and young people
- Developing the ministry of all.
CHP commissions new titles in the following areas:
- promoting mission and church growth
- ministry at major life events
- celebrating Christian seasons and festivals
- nurturing faith and discipleship with all ages.
Before submitting your proposal, please browse the titles we have published by using this web site or looking through our current catalogues to ensure that we are the most appropriate publisher for your work.
Please note that we do not publish:
- Poetry
- Fiction
- Autobiographies
- Dissertations
- Material of specialist local interest
In the first instance, please contact Christine Smith, Publishing Director with details of your proposal. Please send a short synopsis, contents page and sample chapter. You do not need to send the complete manuscript. In preparing your proposal, it is helpful if you have considered the intended market for the book. Who would buy it? What is the competition? What makes your title different to other books already published?
