This is the third edition of the House of Bishops' policy on child protection, intended to ensure that all children who have contact with the Church of England are safeguarded. The document:
- is a statement of the general principles of the Church on the subject of child protection;
- sets out the responsibilities of the Church from the central structures of the Church of England to the dioceses and parishes.
It contains the House of Bishops' revised policy on child protection, together with a series of procedures for dioceses and parishes to follow in the following circumstances, where it is felt that the Church should have a common practice:
- Responding to concerns about possible abuse
- Ministering to known offenders
- Safe recruitment of those working with children
Authorized by the House of Bishops' as the minimum requirement for all those involved in working with children in the Church of England, it has been prepared in response to legislation and government guidance for the safeguarding and protection of children.
