Beginning with the toughest question of all -"why?"- God of the Valley is written from the author's own experience of grief, through the illness and eventual death of his wife at the age of 36 and also through his pastoral work as a church minister with bereaved families. He writes not as a trained counsellor but as someone who has found himself strenghtened and comforted by God even in the darkest times. Interwoven with his personal story are reflections on the Bible passages that over the years have come to mean most to him.
